Location: Stirling, Scotland + international travel.

Salary range: Dependent on experience.

Salary: £24k–£30k plus night away allowance of £50 per night.

Sgorran Ltd develops and supplies advanced automated fish vaccination systems used by aquaculture companies around the world.

We are looking for a practical, motivated person who wants to build a career in specialist engineering and aquaculture technology.

This is not a normal workshop job.

You will work hands on with automated machinery used internationally on fish farms and hatcheries. The role involves worldwide travel, problem solving, machine building, servicing, diagnostics, and learning a highly specialised industry.

No previous aquaculture experience is required. We are looking for attitude, reliability, practical ability, and willingness to learn.

What you will learn

  • Fish vaccination biology and fish handling
  • Operation of automated fish vaccination machines
  • Machine assembly and testing
  • Electrical fault finding
  • PLC diagnostics and automation systems
  • Pneumatic systems and diagnostics
  • Worldwide field service support
  • Customer support and technical troubleshooting

The role involves

  • Building and preparing machines in our workshop
  • Travelling internationally to customer sites
  • Working on fish farms and hatcheries
  • Supporting machine installations and servicing
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults
  • Learning directly from experienced engineers

Important realities of the role

This role can involve:

  • Travelling away from home for up to 4 weeks at a time
  • Early starts and long days during customer operations
  • Working in hot, cold, wet, and physically demanding environments
  • Working around fish, water, machinery, and industrial equipment
  • Hands on practical work

We are looking for someone who is

  • Electrical or mechanical college course, HNC/HND, or willing to undertake further education such as HNC/HND/Modern Apprenticeship
  • Educated to at least Scottish Highers level (SCQF Level 6), including Maths and Physics
  • Practical and mechanically minded
  • Calm under pressure
  • Reliable and willing to travel
  • Interested in engineering and technology
  • Comfortable working with tools and machinery
  • Professional when dealing with customers
  • Keen to learn a highly specialised industry

Essential requirements

  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Must be able to travel internationally, including to Europe, without requiring company sponsored visas or work permits
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home for extended periods

Desirable but not essential

  • Electrical or mechanical college course, HNC/HND
  • PLC or automation interest
  • Workshop experience
  • Farm, marine, engineering, or motorsport background
